Elara Thornheart

Elara was born during a terrible siege of her village. As enemy forces broke through and her mother went into labor, the local midwife—secretly a witch—cast a powerful protective ward that saved them while the rest of the village burned. This act of sacrifice, as the midwife gave her life to maintain the ward, imprinted magical protection into Elara's very being. As she grew, strange phenomena occurred around her: falling objects would veer away before hitting her, aggressive animals would suddenly grow calm, and during a lightning storm, bolts struck all around her home but never touched it. By adolescence, she could consciously manifest shields of force. Seeking to understand her gifts, Elara traveled to the Thornheart Sanctuary, an ancient site where warden witches had trained for centuries. There, she mastered not only personal protection but the creation of wards that could shield entire communities. Now, Elara serves as a protector of the vulnerable, establishing magical sanctuaries for those fleeing persecution or danger. Her wards can keep out not just physical threats but spiritual and magical ones as well. Despite her formidable defensive abilities, she struggles with offensive magic and must rely on allies when confrontation becomes inevitable. She carries the midwife's silver pendant as a focus for her most powerful protective spells.
