Background
Thalia was born to a village apothecary, where she learned the healing properties of plants from an early age. Her life changed when a devastating plague swept through her village. While others fled, Thalia and her father stayed to treat the sick, until he too succumbed to the disease.
In her grief and desperation, Thalia discovered she could not only sense the plague within the afflicted but could manipulate it with her will. She learned to draw out infections, transferring them to plants or small animals, saving many lives but withering everything around her home.
Realizing the danger and potential of her abilities, she sought out the reclusive witch known as Old Mother Nightshade, who recognized Thalia's rare gift for plague magic. Under her tutelage, Thalia learned that her powers extended beyond healing—she could also cultivate and spread disease if she chose.
Now, Thalia walks a moral tightrope. She offers her services as a healer to communities suffering from mysterious ailments, drawing out their diseases and storing them in specially prepared vessels. However, she also keeps a carefully maintained collection of plagues and poxes that she can unleash upon those who threaten the innocent. She is both healer and potential harbinger, aware that her power to cure is matched only by her capacity to corrupt.
